About This Product

Overview of resource:

Welcome to My Personal Values Project! Give your students the opportunity to discover their self-identity and personal values, as well as learn about their family values. This interdisciplinary project is a great opportunity for exploration and deep classroom discussions, and it includes everything you need from start to end of the project, including a pre-teaching activity and an evaluation rubric.

Who is this resource for?

This project is for upper elementary classroom—grades 4, 5 and 6, and could also easily work in a grade 3 or grade 7 classroom. As this project is interdisciplinary, it can be used in English Language Arts, Health or as a Social Emotional Learning activity. The choice is yours!

This project is ideal for teachers looking to encourage self-discovery, critical thinking and build community (classroom community and beyond… this resource engages your student’s families too!).

What’s included in this resource?

This is a 9 page PDF document.

Inside it, you will find:

  • Lesson and project ideas for the teacher, which includes differentiation strategies. This also includes pre-teaching and post-teaching ideas!

  • Discover your personal values worksheet: This is the pre-teaching activity mentioned above where you can have a classroom discussion about personal values. Students will then reflect on what values are important to them. A great opportunity to explore classroom values as well!

  • Learn about your family values worksheet: This is an optional activity where students have the opportunity to reflect and discuss about their family values with their parents or guardians.

  • My values project instructions and evaluation rubric: This page includes instructions for students and how they will be evaluated.

  • A blank image page: This is an optional page where students will draw the image that represents their values. Teachers can choose to use other paper they already have in their classrooms.

  • A draft copy: This is where students will work away on their drafts where they name and explain their personal values.

  • Final copy page: This is where students will write out their final copy.

Enjoy witnessing your students discover new things about themselves and what they value in their lives!
