High School The American Semiquincentennial Unit Study

High School The American Semiquincentennial Unit Study
Reading, ELA, Writing, 4th Of July, Holidays, Holiday & Seasonal, Resources for Teachers, History, Social Studies, High School, Homeschool Resources, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Teacher Tools, Writing Prompts, Assessments, Lesson Plans, Quizzes and Tests

I am right there in the trenches of high school with my own teen, so I know how hard it is—honestly—to find resources that do not skimp on academics just to keep a providential focus. I put my heart into The American Semiquincentennial: A Covenant of Liberty because I wanted my homeschooler (and yours!) to look past the usual July 4th noise and actually understand the 'covenantal' bones of our nation. This is not just another dry history unit. It is a labor of love I built to challenge our homeschoolers' hearts and minds, connecting our founding documents directly back to biblical principles and divine grace. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: Deep-dive text on America’s 250-year providential journey. Essential theological and civic terms with concise definitions. 10 note-taking sheets to capture key concepts effectively. 10 deep-thinking prompts with a full teacher’s answer key. TOPICS COVERED: How colonial charters established a biblical framework. God’s hand in national survival and the Civil War. John Adams’ vision for virtue and "ordered liberty." Mandates for intercessory prayer and being "salt and light." I truly hope this The American Semiquincentennial: A Covenant of Liberty study ends up being so much more than just a box to check off for high school credit—I want it to be a real bridge between history and faith for your homeschooler. We are in such a unique, fleeting moment as we head toward the Semiquincentennial, and I cannot think of a better time to ground our homeschoolers in what a 'covenant of liberty' actually looks like. My prayer is that this does not just fill their heads with names and dates, but honestly helps them grow into virtuous stewards of the freedom we’ve been given. It is an honor to walk this road with you as we point our teens back to the true Author of liberty! If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. Thank you for your support! Tina - Big Easy Homeschooling Mom

You know that feeling when December hits and suddenly your teenager is more interested in hot chocolate than sentence structure? Yeah, me too. Last year, I spent way too many mornings fighting with my eigth-grader about grammar while she stared longingly at the twinkling lights on our Christmas tree. That is when it hit me – why was I making this harder than it needed to be? Instead of battling the season, I decided to embrace it. These 2025 December ELA Bell Ringers were born from pure desperation and a strong cup of coffee on a particularly challenging December morning. I needed something that would actually hold my daughter's attention while still covering the ELA skills she needed to practice. Turns out, when you wrap grammar fixes in winter themes and poetry analysis in holiday spirit, teenagers suddenly find English a lot more interesting. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: NO-PREP time-saving resource that is ready to print and go. 23 December activities your students/homeschoolers will actually enjoy. Grammar, creative writing, vocabulary, poetry, and literary analysis all in one. Winter and holiday themes that will keep your students/homeschoolers engaged. TOPICS COVERED: Grammar that doesn't feel like punishment. Creative writing that sparks imagination. Vocabulary that goes beyond memorization. Poetry without the intimidation factor. After three years of using and tweaking these activities in my own homeschool, I can honestly say they have become one of my December must-haves. My daughter actually asks for the creative writing prompts now (miracle of miracles). The grammar components have become our go-to review when I notice her slipping back into old habits, and the vocabulary work has strengthened her writing in ways I didn't expect. Whether you are looking for that perfect December learning balance, need emergency lesson plans when life gets crazy, or want activities that actually make your teenager think (and maybe even smile), these 2025 December ELA Bell Ringers have become the swiss army knife of my homeschool supplies. Sometimes the best resources are the ones that solve problems you didn't even know you had. If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. ELA, Writing, Literature, Holiday & Seasonal, Months, March, Life Studies, Resources for Teachers, St. Patrick's Day, Holidays, High School, Homeschool Resources, Teacher Tools, Assessments, Lesson Plans, Quizzes and Tests, Worksheets & Printables, Writing Prompts

As a homeschool mom, I created this 2026 March ELA Bell Ringers set because I noticed those essential skills, like rhetoric and grammar, were getting buried in the busyness of our bigger unit studies, and I did not want them forgotten. With these daily warm-ups, we now have a seamless routine that gets my daughter's brain in gear the moment she sits down. These daily warm-ups have transformed our 'slump time' into a few minutes of calm, focused critical thinking, making the jump into high school English so much easier for both of us. I love that she can complete one as she is having her piece of toast first thing in the morning and preparing for her day! INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: The entire month of March 2026 is mapped out and ready to go. Focuses on high-level rhetoric, logic, and ethical inquiry. Uses prompts from historical figures to spark genuine conversation. Includes both digital (PPTX) and print (PDF) options for easy use. TOPICS COVERED: Tackles appeals (ethos, pathos, logos) and speech structures. Deconstructs irony and narrative points of view. Prompts on censorship and artistic responsibility (great for sparking debate!). Manipulates sentence structure for professional clarity. As a busy parent and teacher, I know exactly how precious our instructional minutes are, and bringing these March 2026 ELA Bell Ringers into our routine has been an absolute game-changer. It is a joy to watch the consistent, varied exposure to these prompts help my 9th grade daughter become more articulate, a thoughtful communicator, and I cannot wait for you to experience those same "aha!" moments and see that beautiful growth in your own learners. Happy teaching! If you and your students/homeschoolers enjoyed this resource, please leave a review. I will be honest—high school hit us like a ton of bricks! Watching my 9th-grade daughter outgrow our old curriculum was a huge wake-up call; the 'fluff' that worked in middle school just made her roll her eyes. I realized we didn’t need more prompts; we needed better conversations. That is why I built High School The Winter-Spring Dialogue Writing Prompt Bundle . I wanted something that felt as deep and complex as she is. We have spent the last few weeks sitting at the kitchen table, watching the literal thaw outside while she tackles these big, 'grown-up' ideas. Seeing her actually think instead of just filling in blanks? Those are the moments that remind me why we chose to homeschool in the first place. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: 20 reflective nature prompts 10 brainstorming note-taking sheets Analytical grading rubric Weighted high school grading scale TOPICS COVERED: Dormancy & Growth Liminality & Transitions Seasonal Reliability Vulnerability & Light If your teen gets stuck on a tough prompt, just let them sit with it. I tell my daughter all the time: some of the best ideas need a little time in the dark before they are ready to surface. I cannot wait to hear about the 'aha!' moments that happen at your house this season. Keep leaning into the thaw—the growth is coming. Finding a high-quality holiday resource that does not feel like "busy work" can be such a struggle once your student/homeschooler reaches the high school years. As a homeschool mom to a 9th grader and a resource creator, I know exactly how hard it is to find that sweet spot between seasonal fun and the academic rigor our teens actually need. I originally designed this High School 20 St. Patrick's Day Writing Prompts and 20 Note-Taking Sheets bundle for my own daughter based on questions she had about St. Patrick's Day. I wanted to create something that would truly encourage her to sharpen her research skills while practicing the high-level critical reflection I expect for her secondary education. It has been a lifesaver in our home as a time-saving, "no-prep" solution that brings real intellectual depth to our day without adding another stressful item to my already long to-do list. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: A detailed text exploring real history and myths to provide a strong foundation for research. Critical thinking questions that prioritize historical analysis over simple reading comprehension. Specially designed pages to help students/homeschoolers organize thoughts and brainstorm before they begin writing. Detailed paragraph-style responses to facilitate deep discussions and make grading your student's/homeschooler's work quick and easy. TOPICS COVERED: Explore the actual life of St. Patrick and the real symbolism behind the legendary shamrock. Analyze scientific evidence versus the allegorical reasons why this myth persists in modern history. Evaluate Ireland’s massive cultural impact and the diversity within Irish heritage and traditions. Dig into the commercialization of holidays and how traditions evolve and change over time. By combining research with structured writing, we are giving our teens the tools to grow as deep thinkers and skilled writers without any added fluff. Having everything in one place has created such a seamless workflow in our own daily routine, and I feel confident handing this to my daughter knowing it respects her maturity. My hope is that this helps your family transform seasonal studies into a truly meaningful exploration of Irish history, culture and origin of St. Patrick's Day. It has been the perfect way for us to celebrate the season while checking off those important high school educational boxes. High School 2025 October ELA Bell Ringers
ELA, Literature, Writing, Research, Resources for Teachers, Holiday & Seasonal, Holidays, Halloween, High School, Homeschool Resources, Teacher Tools, Worksheets & Printables, Writing Prompts, Assessments, Quizzes and Tests

You know what's frustrating? Trying to find good October activities that don't turn into fluff just because they're Halloween-themed. I have been homeschooling my daughter for over 4 years now, and every fall I would spend hours looking for something that would actually challenge her ninth-grade brain while still being fun. Most of what I found was either too babyish or completely disconnected from what she actually needed to learn. So last year, I finally got fed up and starting making my own. These 23 bell ringers have become our go-to for October mornings—they are quick (5-10 minutes), they get her thinking, and honestly? She doesn't even realize how much serious ELA work she iw doing because she iw too busy getting into the spooky mood. We are talking real Gothic literature, vocabulary that will help her writing techniques she will need in college—but wrapped up in themes that make her actually want to do the work. The best part - watching her face when she connects something from Edgar Allan Poe to a modern horror movie, or when she uses a new vocabulary word in regular conversation without even thinking about it. That is when you know the learning is really sticking. I have tweaked these activities based on what worked (and what did not) with my own kid, so they hit that sweet spot of being challenging without being overwhelming. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: NO-PREP, time-saver; ready-to-use resource 23 comprehensive bell ringer activities organized into themed weekly units Printable format with clean, student/homeschoolers-friendly layout requiring minimal preparation Enhanced AP-level prompts featuring advanced literary analysis and rhetorical techniques TOPICS INCLUDED: Gothic literature analysis featuring Edgar Allan Poe and Washington Irving Advanced grammar concepts including subject-verb agreement and misplaced modifiers Creative writing with focus on unreliable narrators and dramatic irony Sophisticated vocabulary development with etymology and historical context I know firsthand how exhausting it can be to constantly create engaging content while juggling everything else that comes with homeschooling—some days I barely have time to prep dinner, let alone design elaborate lesson plans! That is exactly why I created these October bell ringers with busy homeschool families in mind: no additional materials to hunt down, no complicated setup that eats into your morning, just print-and-go content that actually works. I have been using variations of these activities with my own daughter for years, and I can tell you that she genuinely looks forward to her daily warm-ups now (which, let's be honest, is a homeschool mom victory right there!). What I love most is watching her tackle increasingly sophisticated analysis without even realizing how much her thinking skills are developing—she is building the kind of critical reasoning that will serve her well in college while having fun with spooky themes. You know that moment when you're sitting at the kitchen table with your high schooler, and they actually ask for more writing practice? That is exactly what happened with my 9th grader last fall. She was tired of worksheets that felt pointless, but she genuinely wanted to get better at writing. So I started creating these quick 5-minute activities to kick off our ELA time each day. INCLUDED IN THIS RESOURCE: NO-PREP time-saver; ready-to-use resource 20 carefully crafted daily bell ringers spanning for the entire month Rotating focus areas including grammar exercises, creative writing, descriptive writing, vocabulary activities, and poetry Consistent format that students/homeschoolers can quickly understand and dive into each day TOPICS COVERED: Grammar fundamentals including subject-verb agreement, comma placement, pronouns, and sentence types Creative writing exercises featuring mysterious gifts, future letters, and imaginative scenarios Descriptive writing focusing on autumn scenes, storms, and nature walks Vocabulary development through context clues, word usage, and synonym/antonym exploration What I love most is how these daily practices build momentum that carries through the entire year.
