About This Product

Faire with Sports - Le jeu des 7 familles

A French card game, Faire with Sports - Le jeu des 7 familles serves as an efficient teaching resource for educators. This fun yet educational card game, based on the traditional "jeu des sept familles", helps students of different age groups practice and master FAIRE Present tense conjugations along with sports.

Main Learning Objective

The primary aim of this learning tool is to encourage literacy during differentiated reading instruction. It includes an easy-to-prepare kit, making it useful for both public school teachers and homeschoolers.

The Structure of the Game :
  • Each pack contains seven groups or 'families' of cards.

  • In each family, phrases conjugate verbs in present tense such as Je fais + sport (I do + sport), Je ne fais pas + sport (I do not do + sport), Est-ce que je fais + sport (Do I do + sport).

  • The families cover all forms: JE - TU - IL - NOUS - VOUS - ILS, providing comprehensive coverage of verb forms.

Product Description :

This product provides a how-to-play guide and 42 playing cards which are to be printed on heavy paper or card stock. Cards are designed in a way that encourages learners to form simple questions using EST-CE QUE, stimulating active conversation in French during the game. During gameplay, learners will also have to make affirmative and negative statements adding more dynamics to their learning process.

Educational Gameplay Objectives:

  1. Group learners from two up to four in each team. Distribute five cards each from the deck placed at easy reach, called "pioche".

  2. In the game’s turn, request for desired cards by forming questions like “Est-ce que tu fais du karaté?”.

  3. The game's victory isn’t just about winning; it is about forming complete 'families' with six members: JE - TU – IL – NOUS – VOUS - ILS.

    • Note: Complete families are groups of cards bearing similar pictures at top like a flower or flip-flops etc. which create symbolic identification. When a player collects all six members of a family, they can be stacked together.
  4. The player who possesses the maximum number of family sets ultimately wins!
