Financial Literacy: Consumer and Civic Awareness

This lesson plan of Financial Literacy: Consumer and Civic Awareness will explain financial literacy to 5th-grade students in regard to consumer and civic awareness.

The following subjects are explained:

• Rate

• Unit Rate

• Unit Rate for Services

For each of the concepts explained, of rate a definition is presented and followed by real-life examples where students will be able to recognize the concepts. This resource Financial Literacy: Consumer and Civic Awareness includes plenty of practice for students to master understanding of the three concepts of Rate, Unit Rate, and Unit Rate for Services.

Additionally, for every practice exercise, there are answer sheets included to make it easier for teachers to check on student's work.

This resource was developed for 5th graders, though it may be used for students in higher grades or advanced lower grades as well. This resource is very useful to have students develop money awareness and it begins with the concepts included here.

This resource Financial Literacy: Consumer and Civic Awareness may be used by students individually, in pairs, small groups, or centers.
