About This Product

Love puns? Then you will love these kindness themed writing puns. Motivate your class to write about kindness using these fun frames and task cards! Use the task cards as conversation starters, too!

This versatile Pun Fun Kindness Activity will encourage your students to add a little

creativity to their writing as they think about kindness and ways to be kind to others.

In order to be kind it is necessary to ignite thought patterns that encourage children to think beyond themselves and to think about others. These writing frames will do just that!

I always love to have easy writing frames and ideas available to use quickly as needed. Put the cards in a basket and pull them out to use as a quick time filler and chat about kindness!

These ready to print and use writing frames, task cards and smaller sheets can be run off ahead of time and used any time of the year since kindness is a topic that supports learners socially and emotionally everyday with developing positive character traits.

The puns at the top of each page can easily be used as is by simply asking why to you feel this way? For example: One pun is: an image with a donut with the words: “Do-nut” Stop Spreading Kindness Everyday. You can simply ask your students, “Why do think it is important to spread kindness everyday?”

These are not grade specific but would work best with first through fourth grades depending on the level of your learners.

Valentine’s Day is a great time to use these and perhaps create a mini unit about kindness incorporating these frames and task cards.

All writing frames have a pun on the top in reference to kindness and space to write an open-ended response.

Here is what is included:

  • 19 frames using puns with fruits, vegetables, food, animals, a cactus, number 8 and one with a sun to motivate writing about kindness in a fun way. All the frames are Black and White with lines for writing! They are easily run off on color printing paper.

  • 19 smaller half size sheets without lines to use to respond about kindness or perhaps use to give someone a compliment or for someone to write a thank you for an act of kindness.

  • 30 task cards with writing ideas and prompts to write about different ways to show kindness.

Ideas for Use:

  • Use these frames as a response to a book about kindness.

  • Have a kindness area or basket where students can thank others for acts of kindness they have displayed.

  • Use in a writing station or center where each student chooses a writing card and responds.

  • Use as choice activity for early finishers.

  • Create a kindness bulletin board or display with your students’ finished work.
