Separate is Never Equal Picture Book Companion

Separate is Never Equal is a great book to teach students about segregation and the case that came before Brown vs. BOE. It’s perfect to introduce before Black History month. I taught this unit during Hispanic Heritage month, but it can be used at any point in the school year. This unit is packed full of activities to help students learn reading strategies, vocabulary, and grammar skills that are aligned with Common Core standards.
