About This Product

Are you a United States History teacher or a government teacher? Then this activity is for you and your students! The stock market crash of 1929 was one of the most dramatic and important events in American History. For many students, the event is simply read about in a textbook or online. This activity will change that for your students! It will change how they learn about this critically important event.

This activity will help bring this historical event alive and into the classroom for your students in a fun and engaging manner! This stock market simulation will help your students comprehend the causes of the stock market crash while role-playing, thinking critically, and working together in small groups to earn as much as they can! They experience the frenzy of the boom and the lows of the crash! This lesson is an amazing way to start your unit on the Great Depression! The activity includes various roles for the group.

This lesson gives students a general understanding of how the stock market operates and how stock speculation works. It takes a bit of prep on the teacher's part but it is worth it! This has always been one of the most memorable units and activities for my students.

This product includes everything you will need to carry out the one-day simulation in your classroom with your students.

I have done this lesson numerous times with 10th and 11th graders and they have truly enjoyed It. This lesson can be easily modified for lower grades 8-12. Enjoy!
