U.S. President James Monroe Research Project

The U.S. President James Monroe Research Project allows students in grades 3-6 to research and write an informative report on the life and presidency of James Monroe. Students compile research and draft components in the included booklet, then publish a final report using the publishing paper provided. Revision, editing, peer feedback, and grading rubric pages guide students through the writing process and help teachers provide actionable feedback. A supplemental reading gives introductory information, but students will need to use additional print and digital sources to complete their research. This engaging project facilitates key research, writing, collaboration, and analysis skills pertinent to social studies standards. Assign individually or implement collaboratively in small groups or as a whole class activity.
