This ENGAGING Winter Writing Prompts for January Unit is designed for 3rd through 5th grade.

Here are a few Examples of The Winter Writing Prompts: 

  • What is the Best Addition to Hot Chocolate: Vanilla, Cinnamon, or Marshmallows? Explain why?

  • Is Sledding on a Sleigh or on a Tube Better? Explain your reasons?

  • Animals are often hungry in the winter and may wander near your home.  Tell a story about an unusual animal who wanders near your home looking for you to feed it.    

  • Birds migrate in the winter.  If you were a bird, describe your migration journey.

  • In some parts of the world, it stays dark most of the day in winter.  If you had to go to school in the dark, describe your school day.
