Cognitive Triangle Poster
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Special Education Needs (SEN), Not Grade Specific, Posters, Classroom Decor

In cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), the cognitive triangle is a conceptual framework that illustrates the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. It is often used to help individuals understand how their thoughts influence their feelings and actions. The cognitive triangle consists of three components: 1) Thoughts: This refers to the cognitive processes, beliefs, and interpretations that individuals have about themselves, others, and the world around them. Thoughts can be rational, helpful, and realistic, or they can be distorted, negative, and unhelpful. CBT emphasizes identifying and challenging negative or distorted thoughts to promote healthier thinking patterns. 2) Emotions: Emotions are the subjective experiences and feelings that individuals have in response to their thoughts and interpretations. Emotions can range from positive (such as happiness and joy) to negative (such as sadness, anxiety, or anger). The cognitive triangle highlights that thoughts can directly influence emotions, and changing one's thoughts can lead to changes in emotional experiences. 3) Behaviors: Behaviors represent the actions or reactions that individuals engage in based on their thoughts and emotions. Thoughts and emotions can significantly influence one's behavior and choices. For example, if someone has negative thoughts about their abilities, they may avoid certain activities or situations. CBT aims to help individuals identify unhelpful behaviors and develop healthier behavioral responses based on more accurate thinking patterns. The cognitive triangle suggests that there is an interconnectedness between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By understanding and addressing each component, individuals can work towards positive changes in their lives. CBT techniques, such as cognitive restructuring, focus on identifying and modifying negative or distorted thoughts to promote more balanced thinking, healthier emotions, and adaptive behaviors. Without a doubt, history is a topic that can be easily overlooked by our students. Sometimes, it can be difficult for them to make connections with the past in a way that makes sense to them. Being able to provide students with meaningful resources is the best way to get over this learning curve. Whenever you have a social studies topic to introduce or review, you want to find engaging products that you know your students will be able to learn from. Within my store, you will find a plethora of social studies resources to utilize with your students. What You Get: This is a set ofHappiness and Relative Deprivation Slides + Guided Notes Resource. There are 32 slides in the presentation and 1 page for the guided notes, which is an editable Word document. The presentation will give students the opportunity to describe differing perceptions of happiness and some strategies for cultivating it in order to live better, more purpose-driven lives. The worksheet will allow students to write as they follow along with the presentation. This gives them a chance to follow up on what they have learned. How To Implement This Resource: You should print off enough copies of the lecture notes for each student to have, so they can make notes on it as they follow along with the presentation. As students work from slide-to-slide learning aboutconcepts of happiness and how we perceive our happiness, look for opportunities to engage them. Engagement may look like: -- Having them discuss which concept of happiness they resonate with the most -- Doing a quick write about which action step they think is most important -- Having a small group discussion about whether they believe they are satisfied in life at this current moment I hope you enjoy!
