Animal Research Writing Project on Hippos for K-2. The Animal Research Writing Project on Hippos provides differentiated materials to guide K-2 students through reading informational text, collecting data, and writing about hippos. Students begin by examining real-life photos of hippos to color and give a creative title for the cover page of their report. They read age-appropriate information about habitat, diet, appearance, behavior, and other hippo facts. A color-coded key helps young learners organize the information into categories. After reading, students draw and color the hippo habitat based on what they learned. Two options for graphic organizers allow them to sort facts before writing. Differentiated writing pages scaffold the writing process for emerging writers. A self-checking writing page helps beginning writers reflect on their work. When complete, the project can be compiled into an engaging book that displays student creativity. It promotes reading comprehension, information sorting, and writing skills in an interactive way. The 19-page unit also encourage drawing, coloring, and imagination inspired by the unique traits of hippos. Teachers can implement this versatile resource whole-group, small-group, or as an independent writing activity. It bundles an entire animal research writing unit into one differentiated package. SEL Stress Management Game-SEL Coloring Pages
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Special Education Needs (SEN), Social Skills, Life Skills, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, Activities, Games, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Coloring Pages
In this resource, you will get an engaging game like Apples To Apples. There are 36 strategy cards and 18 situation cards. This is an SEL game. Each person takes a turn with being the judge like Apples to Apples. It is important to make enough sets for the number of groups who will be playing. for example, I recommend at least 3-5 people playing together for each group. So if there are 20 students, then create at least 5 different sets of the cards, Then follow the directions for the game below: First, everyone gets 5 strategy cards. There is no revealing the cards to other players. Then one person is chosen to be the " judge " for the first round. I usually pick the oldest person to make it fair. The judge reveals the card to all and even can read the card out loud. The the other players choose one of their strategy cards to handle that particular situation. Then the judge decides which one they would use. Important; there is not right or wrong here, just what one person would do in that situation. Next the next player goes (usually counter clockwise) to who will be the judge. The person will reveal the situation and the other players will play their strategy card. Play as long as time allows. Next, you can print off the mindfulness coloring sheets for students to color and reinforce the idea or coloring mindfully when they are upset, frustrate, need some time alone, etc. There is a way to change the word and position of the word in the mindfulness coloring sheet. These are SEL coloring pages. Don't Stir The Drama Pot-An SEL Presentation Plus SEL Coloring Page
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Creative Arts, Art, Special Education Needs (SEN), Life Skills, Grade 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Teacher Tools, Lesson Plans, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets, Coloring Pages, Writing Prompts
In this product, you will get a Google Slides lesson with SEL coloring pages and Writing prompts discussing what causes drama among friends, what makes things worse (heats it & stirs it up) and what makes things better (what cools it down). There are 10 situations to discuss as a class. You can have students use fingers (1-5) or move to stations around the room to choose what they would do in different situations. Finally, there is a reflection and a coloring activity to reinforce the importance of being drama-free. This lesson will address friendship skills, relationship skills as well as social awareness. You can use this for whole-classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and even one on one counseling. There are descriptions of what heats up (fuels) drama among friends as well as what de-escalates friendship problems. There is a 19-slide presentation using Google Slides. In the PDF, you just need to click on the image of the main cover image. This is the image of a collection of the slide presentation, the reflection sheet, as well as the mindfulness coloring activity sheet. There are slide notes on every page. Please read each slide note for each slide. This will help you have a seamless lesson with very little prep and no need to prepare for your SEL lesson. The heat-up reasons are; involving other people as messengers, bringing up past situations, gossiping, using mean words, and blaming others. The cooldown strategies are; owning your stuff (taking responsibility for your own actions), sharing your own feelings, sticking to the current situation, listening to the other person's perspective, and calming down before you react. This is a great lesson to use if you are finding students have difficulty solving their own problems among their friendship groups, small groups for girls (in particular), or hosting lunch bunch groups for girls. This is not gender specific so you can use it for both genders if needed.

Silly Dragon Crafts - Coloring - Bookmarks - Geometric Designs
Creative Arts, Geometry, Math, Shapes, Early Math, Patterns, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1, 2, 3, Crafts, Activities, Centers, Projects, Coloring Pages, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
These dragons are so silly and so much fun for kids to color. As is this entire dragon crafts activity pack. Kids absolutely love these dragons as well with their simple, thick outlines, they are a great way to give your students a break from their work and also be used as a reward for good behavior and an assignment done well. Since so many kids nowadays love dinosaurs and dragons, I thought it would be fun to create a dragon crafts activity pack. The simple drawings are perfect for preschoolers and prereaders. The bookmark designs, which are smaller and more complex, can be enjoyed by older students as well. There are five different dragons on 8.5 x 11 for a total of 10 posters - 5 of the dragons contain a colored example that children can follow to help with color recognition. These do not have a color border. The other 5 dinosaurs are black and white by themselves and contain a colored border. Once colored, the posters can be used to decorate bulletin boards, classrooms, and home refrigerators. They could even be framed and given as gifts! They can be printed and used again and again! In addition, there are 6 double-sided bookmarks with different geometric designs, patterns, and dragon pictures for coloring and printing. Geometry is math, so without realizing it, when your students color in the geometric designs, they are in essence practicing math skills. You can ask your students to identify the shapes and patterns on the bookmarks while they are coloring. You can also teach about shapes and patterns while they are keeping their hands busy coloring them. This can be super helpful in reducing distractibility. The geometric designs are great for developing familiarity with shapes and patterns. Plus, bookmarks make great gifts and encourage reading. The format is pdf downloadable and there are 15 pages, including the cover page. There is no need for an answer key as this dragon craft activity pack is pure fun with a little arts and crafts and math snuck in.

Alphabet Crafts - Dinosaur Activities - Bible Read Aloud
ELA, Language Development, Pre-Reading, Vocabulary, Spelling, Strategies, Reading, Kindergarten, Preschool, Worksheets & Printables, Coloring Pages, Worksheets, Drawing Templates & Outlines, Flashcards
I created this activities pack because so many kids like dinosaurs, and learning the alphabet is such a foundational skill, sometimes one that isn't learned easily by kids. Teach your pre=readers and reinforce struggling readers learning the alphabet with bright colors and fun dinosaur pictures. Each letter of the alphabet is on a separate page to color as shown in the preview. There are 26 different Bible verses that students can trace and learn and even memorize. And 26 different flashcards with each letter of the alphabet on a separate card, the alphabet in the flashcards is a dinosaur font and can be colored in. Most of the products I create are designed for multiple ages in mind. For example, this product contains simple super large letters of the alphabet that can be colored in even by a toddler who can hold a crayon. Also, this product also contains 16 different dinosaur outlines that can be traced and/or colored. Each is on a separate page and includes the name of the particular dinosaur. Dinosaurs have long names, so these pages can be used to familiarize children with different dinosaurs and even be used for a spelling test where your students have to be able to correctly spell the dinosaurs. Or they could be asked to alphabetize the dinosaur sheets in order. Also included in this awesome dinosaur and alphabet activity pack is 16 different dinosaur outlines to color (one on each page) with the name of the dinosaur spelled out in a font that can be colored in. Dinosaurs included: Acanthopholis Ankylosaurus Dilophosaurus Diplodocus Gallimimus Iguanodon Ouranosaurus Parasaurolophus Pteranodon Saurolophus Stegosaurus Styracosaurus Triceratops Tyrannosaurus Rex Valdosaurus Velociraptor As you can see, the dinosaur names are challenging even for the best spellers, including me! Even though there are no specific questions regarding these dinosaurs in this product, you could assign specific dinosaurs to your older students, to look up and research and write an essay.

Changing Negative Self-Talk Into Positive Self-Talk SEL Presentation
Special Resources, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Social Skills, Special Education Needs (SEN), Elementary, Middle School, Activities, Worksheets & Printables, Coloring Pages, Worksheets
In this Google Slide SEL presentation, students will learn how to change their negative thoughts into positive ones. There is a quote at the beginning of the slide show that says "Watch what you tell yourself, you're likely to believe it." by Russ Kyle. The students can share what they think this quote means to them. Then there is an educational slide on the value of changing their negative thoughts into positive ones. Then the students will have 12 slides to practice changing negative thoughts into realistic and positive ones. They can do this as a turn and talk with a partner, whole group instruction, or in their table groups. You can decide the best approach for your students. After they practice 12 different thoughts, the students will participate in an elimination game using a playing deck of cards. You will randomly pull a red or black card and students need to declare which one they think you will pull before you pull it. There are directions on the slide notes. The goal is for them to say out loud to the person next to them about which one they guess is going to get pulled for their own accountability. Ask students to pay attention to their own self-talk during this game. This game is based on luck only. You can play the game as many times as you want as time allows. Lastly, the students will get to color a mindfulness coloring sheet of a brain with their own name on it. You can make as many handouts as you have students in your class. Simply double click on the name and change it to the names of students in your class and press enter. Print off as many copies as you need.
