My "Life of Saint Valentine" activity pack is designed to make it easy to teach students of all ages about the life of St. Valentine. My specific recommended age range is pre-k through 5th grade, though special education students of all ages will benefit as well. Of course, many older children enjoy coloring, so the coloring sheets can be used as a way to make the day more interesting, as a reward, or as a way to occupy busy minds after completing required assignments. Pre-readers will be able to participate by coloring the pages and can be guided by the teacher who can read the sentences and ask the questions verbally while the pre-reader is coloring the images on each page. Students who are reading and writing, or learning to read and write, will get further practice in developing their reading and writing skills. Students who are able will also be required to research the life of Saint Valentine. Students will learn about multiple historical Valentine persons, including one female. Students will not only develop research skills, but critical thinking skills as well, because many of the questions require them to think outside the box. Included in this activities pack: Challenging Crossword Puzzle with answer key included Not too easy Word Search with answer key included. 10 Coloring Pages, each with a question that can be answered verbally or in writing. Space is given for writing, or a separate sheet of paper may be used, depending on teacher preference. A Word Scramble Worksheet - Word Bank is included to help simplify if needed. Teacher could remove the word bank if they want to make it more challenging. Answer key is included. 5 Short Answer writing prompts as well as one 1-2 paragraph writing assignment. Students are asked to choose one of the Valentines to do further research. Reference/Resources page to help with research. While students are working on these activities, they will be increasing vocabulary because many of the words may be unfamiliar to them. Each page is bordered with a beautiful Valentines Day theme. See images for example. Total usable pages, including answer key and reference page: 21 pages, pdf downloadable, printable document, answer key included.

Easter Nonreligious Crossword for Spelling
Holiday & Seasonal, ELA, Holidays, Easter, Language Development, Vocabulary, Spelling, Kindergarten, Grade 1, 2, 3, Crosswords Puzzles, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
This crossword puzzle is about Easter!. To be precise, this crossword contains secular / nonreligious things that are related to Easter or spring. This crossword puzzle is designed for spelling practice. When you fill the crossword correctly, you will find a hidden message! In this crossword, there are images as hints and the students have to name the images to the horizontal rows of the crossword. The lines are connected so when the crossword is filled correctly, a hidden message will appear in the emphasized vertical row. The hidden message of this crossword is: Have a happy Easter! The benefit of this kind of crossword puzzle is that once students understand the simple concept, they are able to proceed themselves regardless of their level. The answer of the crossword is on the second page, but students are able to tell whether they are right or not. If the hidden sentence is meaningful, then have done it right. If it doesn’t make sense, they will realize that; and then they can co-operate with their classmates to find the right solution. In other words, this worksheet is self-checking. This is a print-and-go and ready-to-use resource which can also be added to centers , or provided for substitute teachers. This activity can be used with small groups or pairs, or for individual work. It is also suitable for spelling homework for Easter holiday! This crossword is suitable for students of 1st grade, 2nd grade or 3rd grade. This crossword can be also used with preschoolers (for example as a holiday homework work with parents’ help) There are 16 words in this crossword such as chocolate, grass, party, marshmallow, tulip, daffodil and egg. Jungle Animals Crossword Puzzle
Holiday & Seasonal, Science, Life Sciences, Biology, Grade 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, Crosswords Puzzles, Worksheets, Worksheets & Printables
This crossword puzzle is about recognizing jungle animals and spelling their names correctly. This crossword is suitable for 3rd-7th graders as part of their biology lessons or as a fun holiday activity ! As some of the animals may not be familiar to every student, I would recommend doing this crossword in small groups or with a pair, but you can use this for individual work, too. This is a print and go resource that includes answers. Students have to recognize the animals from drawn pictures and then name them in the horizontal rows of the crossword one letter at the time. This also helps to practice the correct spelling of these rainforest animals. When the students fill the crossword correctly, they will find a hidden message from the emphasized vertical row. The hidden message is: Tropical Rainforest. The animals in this crossword live in tropical environments in different continents (South America, Africa and Asia). Some of the animals also live in other habitats in addition to the tropical climate. The animals in this crossword are: Anteater, scorpion, dragonfly, piranha, okapi, capybara, orangutan, lemur, tiger, tarsier, iguana, mandrill, kingfisher, baboon, gorilla, chameleon, sloth, coati. If you like this crossword, check out my Teach Simple page for other crosswords: https://teachsimple.com/contributor/thebrightestkid There are some crosswords for biology and more for spelling and languages. The crosswords are usually available in English, Spanish and French (there are not exactly the same animals in different languages, but most of them are the same). This crossword is self-checking in the way that a meaningful hidden message will signal the students that they have most likely done it right. Grades: 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th Themes: Biology, vocabulary, cultural activities* Number of students per crossword: 1-4 Preparation: Printing Suitable for: Classroom work, homework, for substitute teacher. Answers: Included *especially if used together with versions of the crossword in different languages
