These 13 colonies were Virginia, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, North and South Carolina, and Georgia. From 1791 to 1912, the remaining 35 states joined the Union, from Vermont to Arizona. In 1959, Alaska and Hawaii were the last two states to join.
