Long and Short A: Follow the Vocab Sample Game Note: This download is in PowerPoint show mode to protect the rights of the image creator(s), and is thus UNEDITABLE. Playing the Game After the front slide the game begins. First rounds are easier with less pictures. Later rounds are harder with up to 9 pictures at the end. Teams will take it in turns to answer. Gameplay Taking round 1 as an example. Three pictures are shown. After 10-15 seconds they will disappear. Students are to try and follow at least one of these pictures. Click the go button to begin. The three pictures will mix between themselves and end in a different position. Team A goes first. Anybody in the team can answer. Say the number and then the word. Click on the card to see if the answer is correct - 1 point per correct answer. After Team A have answered. Offer the chance for Team B and subsequently C, D etc in order. to answer. Attempt to get all of the cards answered before moving on. Click on the arrow to continue to round 2 . If you ever need to replay a round, you can press the refresh button on the left side. As the game goes on, you may want to change the rules by allocating 2 words for each team to follow with bonus points if they can answer any other words. About the Full Game (available in the ppt game links section below) If you want an exciting way to practice letter A phonics words, this is the game for you. With a variety of difficulties and short A/long A words, this is the ideal review game. Many students will be able to get involved in each round and with ten rounds, the whole class will enjoy themselves while practicing phonics at the same time. 21 slides. 10 rounds. Short and Long A practice - question prompted by pictures. Short A words used: cap, hat, bag, man, dad, ham, map, can, bat, pan, mat, tag, sad, jam, cat, fan. Long A words used: bake, cake, lake, cave, case, vase, sail, wave, rain, play, snail. Includes sound effects for increased entertainment. Picture style: clipart Helps to Build Letter recognition – Identifying letters in different fonts or contexts. Letter-sound association – Connecting letters to its sounds. Vocabulary building – Introducing words that start with each letter. Phonemic awareness – Listening for letter sounds in words, rhyming, or segmenting sounds. These are words that don't use the phonics rules that one might expect when reading and trying to pronounce the word. But this is not all. Also blends, digraphs, trigraphs, double consonants and many more phonetic elements are separately highlighted in each component of this resource. There are several parts to this resource. Please check out the screenshots on this page to get a better idea of the aesthetics of this resource. The included components are: 1. Digital Flash Cards (Digital PDF) This activity is offered in a PDf-Format. Simply use the arrow keys to navigate through the slides. 2. Build Your Own Set (PowerPoint) This activity comes in a PowerPoint format. This allows you to pick and choose the cards that you like to create your very own set. Just copy and paste the slides in whichever order you prefer. 3. Printable Flash Cards (Printable PDF) The same card that are featured in the previous activity also come in a printable format. Again, this is a PDF-File. Just print, laminate, and cut the cards, and you'll be ready to go! 4. Vocabulary List 1 (Printable PDF) This list shows all of Fry's Ninth 100 Sight Words in alphabetical order. The words are color coded so you can see from which set it originates. 5. Vocabulary List 2 (Printable PDF) This list shows all of Fry's Ninth 100 Sight Words in order of frequency. All the words are divided in 5 groups of 20 words. They have the same color code as the ones in the previously discussed list. Help Leo Sort Parts of the Body is a sorting/grouping activity designed to help learners develop their understanding of human anatomy by identifying and categorizing different body parts. In this activity, the learner is presented with a set of picture cards, each featuring a specific body part, such as hands, heads, feet, and so on. Parts of the body in this activity head eye eyes ear nose mouth lips arm hand hands feet foot leg The learner is then given a set of 6 non-identical pictures of each body part and asked to sort them into the correct picture card. For example, if the learner is presented with a card featuring a hand, they will be given six non-identical pictures of hands to sort into that card. The cards are ethnically diverse. This activity is ideal for learners of all ages, as it helps to develop their observational and analytical skills, as well as their knowledge of human anatomy. It is also an engaging and interactive way for learners to practice and reinforce their understanding of different body parts. This activity can be adapted to suit learners at different levels, with more challenging variations featuring more complex body parts or additional categories for sorting. Overall, "Sort the Body Parts" is a fun and effective educational activity that can help learners to build their understanding of the human body and build on visual discrimination skills. All the pages are clear of visual distractions which helps the learner focus on the task. This activity is easy to create - Print and laminate all cards, cut out the individual sorting cards and velcro to the corresponding activity mat.
