Teaching tips

Use the four "Ticket out the Door" slips as a fast end-of-lesson check after each reading page, since each fits on a quarter of the page and only asks three quick questions.
Have students complete the text-structure margin prompts (circle the heading, box the subheading, underline the main idea) during a first read, then return for the vocabulary and multiple-choice pages on a second pass.
Assign the timeline-ordering page last, since it requires students to recall the full sequence of events across both reading pages rather than a single paragraph.
