If you want to give students extra practice with skip counting, I have just the resource for you.
What You Get:
This is a Number Sequences Worksheet that is ideal for 3rd grade students who have been introduced to more complex sequencing patterns. It is a 2-page printable with 3 sets of problems that increase in difficulty. The increasing difficulty allows you to scaffold instruction and model problems to guide students through completing this worksheet.
How To Implement This Resource:
You can print off enough copies of this worksheet for each student to have. You may also choose to print only a few copies and laminate those. If you choose to laminate them, students can use dry erase markers to write answers. This is a great way to turn this into a math center or small group activity.
It can be used during or after a sequencing lesson as a quick informal assessment to determine how well students are grasping the concept.
In the first section, students will complete three different number sequences and write the rule or pattern for each one. The sequences include:
-- 4 digit numbers
-- 3 digit numbers counting down
--Decimals counting down
In the second section, students will create their own number sequencing for 6 different starting numbers. Be sure students write the rule or pattern for each one.
In the final section, students will write 10 different number sequencing while also coming up with the starting number. They will write the rule or pattern for each one.

Identify and continue a numeric pattern by determining the constant amount a sequence increases or decreases by.
Apply the same increasing/decreasing pattern to both whole numbers and decimals.
Generate an original number sequence from a given or chosen starting number and a chosen increment, then state the rule.
Teaching tips
Model the three guided sequences as a class first, since they mix whole-number and decimal patterns (increasing by 10, decreasing by 10, and decreasing by 0.1) before students create their own on the same page.
Encourage students to try a decimal increment (0.1, 0.25, 0.5, or 0.75) as well as a whole-number one across the ten open-ended prompts on page two, since the sheet explicitly offers both options.
Have students trade papers and continue a classmate's self-created sequence as a check that the stated rule is clear and correct.

Number pattern recognition — students determine the constant increase or decrease in sequences of whole numbers and decimals.

How can students determine the pattern in the third guided sequence (7.4 ... 6.9, 6.8 ...) even though several blanks come before any second given number?
The two consecutive given numbers, 6.9 and 6.8, reveal that the step size is -0.1; students can then work backward from 7.4 in equal -0.1 steps to fill in the blanks before 6.9, and forward from 6.8 to fill in the remaining blanks after it.
