Read these poems with your class while studying the sight words featured in each poem (see list below) and emphasize the rhyming words, the rhythm, and the repetition of words and phrases.. Distribute the corresponding blackline versions of these poetry worksheets for students to reread and to identify and highlight the rhyming words and the sight words you've chosen for study.
For each illustrated, original short poem there are 2 worksheets:
a full color illustrated version that can be laminated or put in a sheet protector and added to a shared reading collection or literacy center
an illustrated black and white line drawn version for you to print, copy and hand out to your class for individual rereading to promote fluency. And they can have fun coloring it too or adding their own drawings!!
