Talk and Write about a Snowy Day

Make good use of a snowy day and use it to develop language and writing skills with our pack of pictures and writing sheets especially written for young children aged 4 to 6.

Talk and Write about a Snowy Day contains pictures to stimulate conversation, and matching worksheets to encourage writing.

Young children often cannot think of what to say when asked to write. This pack aims to solve this problem.

First, talk about the pictures using the teacher's prompts supplied. Introduce new vocabulary, which you can write on a board, or flashcards. such words are included on the writing sheets so that children have them available as they write. Then ask the children to write.

Choose a picture that suits your children best - or use them all, one per day!

The pictures will:

* Help to expand the child’s vocabulary, so necessary for reading and writing.

* Help the child to formulate sentences verbally before writing them.

* Help the child to develop necessary writing skills; sentence construction and spelling.

The pictures are provided in two formats for you to choose the one most suitable for your purpose:

* PowerPoint (with a video of sledging)

The 18 pages of WRITE worksheets are provided at 2 ability levels and give a range of writing activities, from the most basic writing about the picture to a story about going sledging, to writing instructions for making a snowman.
