This is an easy and fun activity to give students who need practice with recognizing the letter E sound from amongst other letter sounds or for those students who need extra practice distinguishing between the initial sounds in words. To complete this sorting activity , students will look at a picture on an Easter egg to determine if the picture begins with the letter E or does not begin with the letter E, and then the students will place the egg on the correct basket mat. This sorting activity includes 3 pages that contains One basket mat for pictures that begin with the letter E One basket mat for pictures that do not begin with the letter E Easter egg pictures that begin with E Easter egg pictures that do not begin with E This beginning sound sort can be used in the following ways Literacy centers Fine motor centers File folder activity Add magnets to the picture cards for a baking tray activity Small group activities Morning work Emergency sub plans If making a file folder game, the teacher will place the mats on either side of the folder and use hook and loop fasteners to sort the egg pictures.
