Prevention and Control of Disease Health: 4th and 5th Grade Unit 6 For 4th and 5th Grade Health, there are seven standards that students will practice and learn. Through using this Prevention and Control of Disease Health: 4th and 5th Grade Unit 6 students will explore and learn to identify daily healthy habits. In this unit, students will learn how to prevent illness and diseases. There is a sorting activity where students will learn basics of communicable and non-communicable diseases and decipher which category they fall under. Students will learn how to promote good health, and they will understand how to identify reliable health sources. Included in this unit, students will study the Coronavirus, its origin, how it spreads, and how to keep communities and people safe. This unit is a perfect way for students to learn about diseases and how students can be healthy and stay informed! There are 44 pages included. This unit meets Common Core Standards. Included in this Prevention and Control of Disease Health: 4th and 5th Grade Unit 6 Worksheet on what is communicable and non-communicable diseases and sorting these diseases. Students will learn about bike safety and the signals used when riding a bike. Playground safety is also taught in this unit . Learning about stranger danger is outlined in this unit with a cut and paste activity . Lastly, students will learn about bullying and what it means to be bullied and what to do. For Kindergarten Health there are seven standards that need to be taught to achieve healthy habits! Unit 1 Personal Health Unit 2 Growth and Development Unit 3 Nutrition and Physical Activity Unit 4 Substance Use and Abuse Unit 5 Injury/ Violence Prevention Control and Safety Unit 6 Prevention/Control of Disease Unit 7 Environmental Consumer Health These units can be taught out of order. They are only numbered for your convenience. Through using this Kindergarten Health: Unit 3, students will explore and learn to identify daily healthy habits. Students will cut, paste, and sort healthy and unhealthy foods. Also included is a fun engaging story about an unhealthy cat who learns how to be healthy by eating the appropriate food and getting exercise. There are a total of 12 pages included in this unit for Kindergarten Health. Included in this unit: * Students will sort healthy foods by their color. Teachers will help students understand that fruits and vegetables are colorful and healthy for their bodies. * Students will cut and sort healthy foods verses unhealthy foods by pasting them into the correct column. * Students will read individually or as a group a story about an unhealthy cat who learns how to be healthy. At the end of the story, students will identify and draw healthy foods and a physical healthy habit that is good for their bodies. There are seven units that cover all the health requirements for Kindergarten. Through using this Substance Use and Abuse: Health: 4th and 5th Grade Unit 4 students will explore and learn to identify daily healthy habits. With this 4th and 5th Grade Unit 4: Substance Use and Abuse lesson plan, your students will learn how to avoid these harmful substances. It has 16 pages of engaging activities with the opportunity for your students to identify and practice healthy habits as they learn to understand the long-term and short-term effects of drugs and other harmful substances. Along with that, they will learn and develop refusal skills to avoid drugs in unhealthy situations. Part of the activities include writing a letter to a friend that will warn them about the effects of drugs. Students will also learn how the media often influences the use of helpful and harmful drugs. Through these lessons, your students will gain a comprehension of the importance of making good healthy choices. In this SEL product, you will get SEL Flashcards for Social Emotional Learning. You will also get SEL coloring pages because there are two different pages of emotions/feelings. Both pages have a black and white version and a color version. The black and white version allows your students to color their own faces and images. The emotions listed are; happy, sad, silly, proud, shy confused, scared, excited, angry, tired, loving, sick, disgusted, cry, jealous, disappointed. These flashcards can be used for so many purposes. I have used these flashcards for Go Fish games where the students have to ask for a certain feeling. You will need to make two copies of the colored emotions poster to make this game work. If a student asks for "angry" and the student they asked has it, that student give the card to the one who asked and that student places the match down on the table and names a time they felt angry. I have also used this resource for memory games. You would, again, make two copies of each emotion. Then you would mix up the cards and place them face down (I would highly recommend cardstock) in a random order. Students then would choose two cards and reveal the emotion cards. If they are a match, then the student can share when they have felt that way. If it is not a match, they would place the cards face down again the the next student would take a turn. This is a fun and interactive game but also helps students discuss their feelings in a non-threatening way. This resource can be used as a whole class activity where students color their flashcards and then cut them out. They can randomly pick a card and name a time they felt that way. This can also be used as a center activity for Go Fish or Memory (as I described above). The ways to use these Emotion SEL Flashcards are endless!

Let's Talk Feelings SEL Presentation

In this SEL presentation, you will get a 5 slide Google Slide Presentation. This was originally created for remote learning, however you can adapt this for in the classroom as well. On the second slide, there is a read aloud that I created for the book My Cold Plum Lemon Pie Bluesy Mood by Tameka Brown. This is a wonderful book about a boy with many different feelings, emotions, and moods throughout the book. On the 3rd slide, there is access to a digital spinner with many different feelings on it. Once you click on the spinner in presentation mode, it will create a new tab, scroll down for the large spinner with a variety of feelings on it. When you click on the spinner, it will move and make spinner sounds. You can choose a student to come to the board or your computer to click it to stop. When it stops there will be a feeling on the screen. You can have students turn and talk about when they have felt that way, you could have them talk in groups, you could do it whole classroom and students can raise their hand. Play as many rounds as you have time for. Next on slide 4 the students can do a feelings scavenger hunt where they find something in the classroom (or home if it remote) that reminds them of that feeling. There is animated picture of feelings that come up on the screen. This gets kids up and moving in the classroom and having fun. Finally, on the last slide you will have access to a homework sheet to pass out to students called Inside/Outside Feelings Scavenger Hunt. Students can take this home and fill it out. They will answer prompts for; That makes you feel silly?, What reminds you of a trip, etc. There are 12 prompts for them to answer.

In this product, you will get a Google Slides lesson with SEL coloring pages and Writing prompts discussing what causes drama among friends, what makes things worse (heats it & stirs it up) and what makes things better (what cools it down). There are 10 situations to discuss as a class. You can have students use fingers (1-5) or move to stations around the room to choose what they would do in different situations. Finally, there is a reflection and a coloring activity to reinforce the importance of being drama-free. This lesson will address friendship skills, relationship skills as well as social awareness. You can use this for whole-classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and even one on one counseling. There are descriptions of what heats up (fuels) drama among friends as well as what de-escalates friendship problems. There is a 19-slide presentation using Google Slides. In the PDF, you just need to click on the image of the main cover image. This is the image of a collection of the slide presentation, the reflection sheet, as well as the mindfulness coloring activity sheet. There are slide notes on every page. Please read each slide note for each slide. This will help you have a seamless lesson with very little prep and no need to prepare for your SEL lesson. The heat-up reasons are; involving other people as messengers, bringing up past situations, gossiping, using mean words, and blaming others. The cooldown strategies are; owning your stuff (taking responsibility for your own actions), sharing your own feelings, sticking to the current situation, listening to the other person's perspective, and calming down before you react. This is a great lesson to use if you are finding students have difficulty solving their own problems among their friendship groups, small groups for girls (in particular), or hosting lunch bunch groups for girls. This is not gender specific so you can use it for both genders if needed.

This 3rd Grade Health Unit focuses on Substance Use and Abuse and is essential to help students with their health and wellness. There are seven units in all taught in 3rd grade that focus on health. These units include: Unit 1 that focuses on Personal Health and Wellness Unit 2 that focuses on Growth and Development Unit 3 teaches students about Nutrition and Physical Activity and how to eat right and stay active Unit 4 that helps students with Substance Use and Abuse and how to avoid bad substances Unit 5 that will teach students about Injury/ Violence Prevention Control and Safety Unit 6 that covers what happened during Covid and how to protect themselves while learning about Prevention/Control of Disease Unit 7 discusses our environment and how to help save our planet with Environmental Consumer Health These units can be taught out of order. They are only numbered for your convenience. At the end of each unit, there is an assessment to test students’ understanding. Through using this 3rd Grade Health Unit 4: Substance Use and Abuse, students will explore and learn to identify daily healthy habits. Included in this 3rd Grade Health Unit are the following: Students will learn and discuss substances that are legal and illegal such as over the counter drugs vs. drugs that are harmful. There is information on smoking, drugs, and drinking alcohol. Students will come to understand the importance of avoiding these substances and discuss their answers with their classmates. . Understanding labels on medication is an important skill for students. They will learn how to read these labels on over-the-counter medications and discuss the information learned and complete questions pertaining to this information. Also included is an assessment to check for understanding. This unit meets Common Core Standards. It is 9 pages of fun engaging activities! There are seven units that cover all the health requirements for 3rd grade. In this SEL presentation, students will learn about the "core four" as a way to figure out how someone else is feeling. This is the building block of empathy and understanding how someone is feeling. This product has a 12 slide Google Slides Presentation with the last 4 slides as handouts and activities for the lesson plan. Students will understand that the core four is looking at the key 4 body parts; the eyes, eyebrows, mouth and hands. They will analyze 4 pictures of real people and guess how they are feeling based on the core four. After they analyze the real children, they will play a game of charades with partners or in groups. There are 6 different emotions to act out-each have an emoji as well as the feeling word. No reading is required. Then there are 2 extension SEL worksheets. One is identifying what people are feeling in a picture, they will circle the feeling word and write down which part of the core four helped them figure it out. The next handout is a fun Find the 9 Differences in an emoji picture. The answer is on the following slide. This lesson is good for pre-k, kindergarten, first and second grades.
