About this resource
Use this two-page worksheet to create pasta skeleton designs for four pictured prehistoric animals. The first work area includes a faint Stegosaurus skeleton that students can trace; the other three areas leave room for their own designs. Supply pasta separately and add skeleton reference pictures if needed. Use the activity in class, at home or with a small group.

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Recreate a dinosaur's skeleton by tracing or placing pasta pieces to match its bone shapes, using the completed Stegosaurus outline as a model.
Practice fine-motor placement by positioning individual pasta pieces along the traced outlines of the Apatosaurus, Gigantosaurus, and Plesiosaurus skeletons.
Teaching tips
Complete the pre-traced Stegosaurus outline together as a class before students work independently on the Apatosaurus, Gigantosaurus, and Plesiosaurus skeletons.
Set out a variety of pasta shapes and sizes in advance, since the activity asks students to choose different types for each skeleton.
Skills covered
Fine motor placement — students position individual pasta pieces along a traced outline to build each dinosaur's skeleton shape.
Model-based replication — students use the pre-traced Stegosaurus outline as a guide before completing the remaining three skeletons independently.

Questions teachers ask about this resource
Are all four dinosaur outlines left blank, or does one show a completed example first?
The Stegosaurus outline is pre-traced as a starter example; the Apatosaurus, Gigantosaurus, and Plesiosaurus outlines are left blank for students to recreate independently.
