About this resource

This Draw Emotion Faces Worksheet provides nine blank face outlines labelled happy, sad, angry, surprised, excited, shy, worried, frustrated and scared.

Invite students to draw possible expressions and discuss situations associated with the feelings. Accept variation rather than treating one expression as the only correct response.

The two-page PDF contains one worksheet and credits. Clipart images courtesy of Kari Bolt Clipart.

Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Identify nine distinct emotions by name and represent each with an appropriate facial expression

Teaching tips

  • Use as a quick SEL warm-up or morning check-in activity, since the format covers nine emotions on a single page.

  • Pair with a discussion of situations that might cause each emotion, since the page names the feeling but does not provide context or a scenario.

Skills covered

  • Emotion-to-expression mapping — students draw a facial expression that matches a given emotion word across nine distinct feelings.
