About this resource

Sort non-identical animal pictures by category. The set has six labelled boards on three pages: cats, dogs, hens, horses, pigs and cows. Three further pages provide 28 cut-out pictures, with four or five pictures per category; a credits page makes seven PDF pages in total.

Introduce one pair of categories and name the pictured animals before sorting. The included note explains how to laminate the boards and cards and add velcro for repeated use.

Students can practise visual classification and vocabulary while placing the pictures. Use the prepared game with a group or as a familiar workstation task, providing support as needed. Clipart is credited to Kari Bolt Children’s Illustrator.
