About this resource

Students will learn about the parts of a clover with these clover labelling activities. This activity is perfect to use during a St. Patrick's Day theme. These worksheets are perfect for Foundation students and Year 1 students to learn about the different parts of a clover.

What is Included:

There is a clover poster that labels the parts of a clover. There is a worksheet for labelling a clover where students trace the words to complete the worksheet. The other worksheet has students writing the labelling words.

How to Use:

Students will use the parts of a clover poster to learn the different parts of a clover, then they will complete one of the labelling the clover worksheets. The students can use the poster to help them fill in their worksheet.

When to Use:

  • The poster can be used in a science or writing centre as a reference for learning the parts of a clover or to assist students in creative or informational writing activities.

  • The worksheets can be used as morning work, within a science centre, for homework, or as an independent activity.

This labelling activity can be easily differentiated for students with different needs. Those who need more support can use the tracing pages or cards to assist them in completing the worksheets. This allows all students to succeed with this activity. The blackline poster will help keep students engaged with learning the parts of a clover.

The clover poster is a low prep activity for teachers to prepare for students. The poster just needs to be printed and laminated if desired. The labelling worksheets are no prep. They just need to be printed and given to students. The worksheets can also be laminated to create a write and wipe activity that can be used over and over by students, helping to conserve paper.

Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Students will identify and label the parts of a clover plant: flower, leaves, stem, and roots.

  • Students will connect basic plant-anatomy vocabulary to a St. Patrick's Day seasonal theme.

Teaching tips

  • Use the two pre-labelled clover diagrams as a teacher reference or completed model before students label their own.

  • Have students colour the clover shamrock-green to tie the plant-science content to the St. Patrick's Day theme.

  • Review the word bank (leaves, stem, roots) with students before they attempt independent labelling.

Skills covered

  • Plant-part identification — students label a clover's flower, leaves, stem, and roots.
