Alphabet Letter Recognition Assessment Sheet

The assessment presents capital letters and lowercase letters in separate groups. An adult asks the learner to identify each uppercase character first, then repeats the process with the lowercase set. Because the task is oral naming rather than handwriting or phoneme production, results can isolate recognition of letter forms. The two passes also make it possible to notice whether a learner recognizes one case more consistently than the other.
