Rewrite an affirmative present-tense sentence in the negative by placing ne...pas around the conjugated verb.
Rewrite an affirmative passé composé sentence in the negative by placing ne...pas around the auxiliary verb, keeping the past participle outside the negation.
Rewrite an affirmative futur proche sentence in the negative by placing ne...pas around the conjugated form of aller.
Change a partitive article (des or du) to de when the sentence's negated verb takes a direct object, such as vegetables or soda.
Teaching tips
Compare all three worksheets side by side to show students that negation wraps around a different sentence element in each tense — the verb itself, the auxiliary, or aller.
Point out the des/du to de article shift on items 3 and 5 of each worksheet before assigning the set, since it is easy for students to overlook.
Use the Corrigé pages as a self-checking answer key, or fold them out for grading without needing a separate key.

Does the negation wrap around the same part of the sentence in all three tenses?
No — in the present tense it wraps around the conjugated verb itself, in the futur proche it wraps around the conjugated form of aller, and in the passé composé it wraps around the auxiliary verb while the past participle stays outside, e.g. n'ont pas joué.
Do any sentences require changing an article, not just adding ne...pas?
Yes — two sentences on every worksheet involve a direct object introduced with des or du (vegetables, soda), and the correct negative form shifts that article to de.
