Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Complete sentence starters to build a five-sentence themed paragraph.
Add descriptive details about an imagined character (appearance, job).
Support an opinion with a reason using a because-sentence frame.
Teaching tips
Brainstorm elf names, jobs, and describing words as a class before students fill in the frames.
Model the because-frames in sentences four and five so students give a reason rather than stopping at 'because.'
Use the finished paragraphs as a December bulletin-board display or pair the template with an elf craft.
Skills covered
Sentence construction — students complete five structured frames, from naming ('my name would be ___') through reason-giving ('I would be the best elf because...').
Descriptive writing — the second and third frames ask students to describe their elf self and its job.
Opinion with reasons — the fourth and fifth frames require because-statements explaining their feelings about elf life.

Questions teachers ask about this resource
How much of each sentence do students write themselves?
Each frame supplies the opening words — like 'My job would be' or 'I would be the best elf because' — and students finish the thought in their own words, so the structure is fixed but the content is theirs.
