About this resource

Number Line Boxes supplies printable numbered strips from 1 to 20. Page 1 has four small sets, each joining 1–10 to 11–20. Pages 2–3 provide one larger set divided into four five-number segments, with glue tabs.

After cutting out the strips, students arrange and join the segments in order. Mount the completed line on backing paper for reuse. Teachers can add counters and their own addition or subtraction prompts as an optional extension.

Teaching tips & learning objectives

Learning objectives

  • Students will sequence and assemble the numbers 1 through 20 in correct increasing order by cutting and gluing number-line segments together.

Teaching tips

  • Use the four-copy strip on page 1 for a small-group or whole-class set, and the segmented version on pages 2-3 for individual student assembly practice.

  • Have students glue segments onto a sentence strip or piece of construction paper as they assemble, so the finished number line holds together for reuse.

Skills covered

  • Number sequencing — students arrange the cut segments 1-20 in correct increasing order before gluing.

  • Fine-motor assembly — students cut and glue number-line segments into one continuous strip.
