About this resource
Seven sets of blank timeline templates are organized by difficulty and box size in the printable PDF, moving from Set 1's large lined boxes for students who need generous writing or drawing space, through Sets 2 through 6's varying combinations of large and small boxes with or without lines, up to Set 7's simplest frames using transitional words alone, such as "First... Then...", "1st, 2nd, 3rd", and "Yesterday... Today... Tomorrow..." for younger students who are not yet writing detailed entries. A sixth set adds decorative styling for finished, display-ready timelines once a topic is complete. Two matching PowerPoint files, one in horizontal and one in vertical orientation, reproduce the same range of blank box-and-line layouts as fully editable slides, each still holding only generic "Add Your Text Here" and "Add Your Name Here" placeholder text so a teacher can type in their own timeline topic, dates, and events. None of the files come pre-filled with any specific historical or curricular content — the timeline topic itself is left entirely to the teacher.

Teaching tips
Match the template set to student writing ability: Set 1's large lined boxes for students who need more space, down to Set 7's simple transition-word frames for younger or emerging writers.
Use Set 6's decorative 'Fancy Timelines' templates only for a final published version, after students have drafted their timeline content on a plainer set.
Edit the horizontal or vertical PowerPoint version directly to add your own unit's topic, name field, and event text before printing or assigning digitally.
