CVC Reading book 12
ELA, Language Development, Pre-Reading, Phonics, Reading, Kindergarten, Preschool, Grade 1,
A phonic CVC Words Reading Book for young/SEN/ESL readers. This is the twelfth of 16 phonic reading books to support the blending of CVC words with a short vowel sound, suitable for those who just beginning to read with phonics. These books are intended to be read in sequence for best effect. Find the complete series here: https://teachsimple.com/product/cvc-short-vowel-phonic-reading-books-fully-decodable These first phonic readers are suitable for use with all phonic programmes. These books focus exclusively on sounding out words and they only use the key sight (red/tricky) words a, is, the, of, which are introduced only gradually. These short words should be learned on a flashcard first, but are best put into context as soon as possible when children usually, quickly pick them up. Pictures are deliberately minimal to encourage the child to gain meaning from the text and not to guess. All of the words are introduced and then met again in subsequent readers, to help develop confidence and fluency. The book s begins with just a few words being introduced. For example, this book CVC Reading book 12 uses the words a, the, fox, red, hen, big, bad, met, get, can, run, not, etc. The whole scope and sequence is included in the pack for your reference. Each book lists the sight word/s being used in that book at the beginning. There is also a short introduction to the book to be read by the teacher and discussed with the child. These introductions help to make up for the lack of words in the book and help parents and teachers to have a basis for discussion with the child, so aiding reading comprehension. I have based the stories around loveable characters with whom the children quickly identify: farmer Tom with his animals, his wife, his son Sam and daughter, Pam, his dog, Jiff and the cat. Careful use of pictures helps to make up for the lack of words, while telling a little story - rather than having stilted phonic readers. Due to the systematic, phonetic nature of these books, they are highly suitable for special needs children who have failed with other programmes. Many parents have told me they wished they had found these books sooner, or had found them at all, as they would have been ideal for their struggling reader. They have been thoroughly tested by my current pupils all of whom are boys. Even my nine-year old boy pupil loves them. They can also be used with young EFL/ESL learners.

Recycling Workshop Home-School Connection
Social Studies, Grade 3, Activities, Projects
Have you been learning about the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle? Now that your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th grade students know what it means to recycle, it's time to put that concept into action. Students will find an object at home that would otherwise be trash and recycle it into something wonderful! Once they've completed their projects at home, they will bring them to school and get going on the second part of the workshop, which is a how-to writing outlining the steps they took to recycle their objects. Students will introduce their projects, discuss transition words, draw pictures of each step, and write a final draft. As a conclusion to the workshop, students will show their completed objects to the class and share their completed how-to writings with their classmates. The ultimate objectives are to put recycling into action, write a clear how-to essay so others can do the same at home, and share those essays with others. It's been a crowd favorite for three years running! In this product you will find a letter to send home to parents and students outlining the at-home expectations for the project, an outline for a rough draft of the how-to writing with a section dedicated to possible transition words for each step of their project, and a page for students to write a final draft. There's even a spot for pictures of the students with their projects! Finally, a rubric for assessment has been included and covers both the written and oral parts of the workshop. FULL CATALOG OF DOWNLOAD LINKS AND ENCYCLOPEDIA INDEX HERE Lesson Snapshot Title: Numbers Genre: Nonfiction Subject: Math (Number Systems) Primary Topic: Counting systems, place value, and zero Estimated Guided Reading Level (A–Z): N What This Lesson Teaches Best Explains early counting methods (bodies, fingers, pebbles) and introduces the tally system as one mark per item. Shows why communities needed lasting number records as towns and trading grew, including wedge-shaped marks pressed into clay in Mesopotamia . Introduces different ways cultures wrote numbers (Egyptian hieroglyph symbols; Roman numerals using I, V, and X). Teaches how the base-ten system and place value use digits 0–9, and why zero matters for holding an empty place. Traces how Hindu-Arabic numerals spread through books, trade routes, and schools (including mention of Fibonacci) and appear today on receipts, maps, and screens. Learning Goals Describe two ways people counted before modern number symbols were common. Explain what a tally system is and why it can get “messy fast” for big amounts. Describe how people in Mesopotamia recorded numbers in soft clay and why those marks lasted. Explain how base-ten place value works (a digit’s spot helps decide its size). Explain why zero is important in the base-ten system, using the text’s explanation. Describe how the “method of the Indians” spread to new places over time. Key Vocabulary From the Text Tally — counting with one mark for each thing. Mesopotamia — an ancient place where early number writing appeared. Wedge-shaped — shaped like a wedge pressed into clay. Place value — a digit’s value depends on its position. Fibonacci — a thinker who helped spread the new number method. Cored Ed Encyclopedia Overview The Cored Ed Encyclopedia is a weekly series of lessons that you can pick up and use right away. These short readings fit into whatever time you have available. Each one includes a warm-up, a reading, and a set of questions, but it’s flexible — you can do just the reading, the full lesson, or skip the writing section if you need to. Each lesson focuses on a single topic so students don’t get lost. The writing is clear but never childish, making it perfect for grades two through five. Topics range from animals and science to history, inventions, and everyday things. No matter the level of the student, everyone should take away at least one new idea or fact from each lesson. The materials are easy to print, easy to explain, and require no setup. They work well for whole-class teaching, partner work, or independent study.
