8 Picture Writing Prompts & Lesson Plan: Setting, Characters, & Dialogue
Many students find it challenging to include vivid descriptions of settings with well-developed characters who speak interesting dialogue into their creative or narrative writing. This is true for student at any grade, whether middle schoolers, or high schoolers alike.
8 Picture Writing Prompts & Lesson Plan: Setting, Characters, & Dialogue is the perfect Google slideshow to add to your toolbox of writing strategies to help your students seamlessly blend their settings with characters and dialogue. The 8 intriguing picture prompts include guiding questions for students to consider as they compose a story.
The 8 Picture Writing Prompts & Lesson Plan: Setting, Characters, & Dialogue provides teachers with a simple way to teach students about setting and mood and how to add character development and meaningful dialogue. The slideshow works well in grades 6-12 English Language Arts classes as well as Creative Writing classes or clubs. It is so versatile that GATE, RSP, ELL, and General Ed students will be able to compose a story to at least one of the slides, if not more. This plan comes with a total of 21 slides ready to use individually, or as a set.
Teachers can choose to have their students go through the writing process, including pre-writing (using the guided questions, to drafting, peer response, rewriting, and publication) with the goal of finishing a complete story or they can use the slides as practice.
