Basic Positions Worksheets
About This Product
Young children need to develop their understanding of basic positions in order to be able to successfully navigate the world around them. Positions like “in front”, “behind”, “next to”, and “under” are all necessary for basic communication and for understanding the physical environment. Positional language is a way of describing an object, action, or location in relation to some other object, action, or location. It can be used to help children identify and name objects, give them information about the location of an object or action, and to provide them with information about how to use an object. Positional language is also important for helping children develop an understanding of time, size, and distance.
In these worksheets children are shown a variety of pictures and they have to pick out and circle the ones that show the relevant given position. The pictures are all in black and white to save on printing costs and provide children with the added activity of coloring in, should you wish. There are also pictures where a choice is given underneath of which position it shows.
