Which phonic programme is it to be used with?

The sheets follow the progression of Letters and Sounds (Phases 2 and 3) but they can be used with any phonic programme, provided that the teacher checks that the child is not given a sheet with sounds that are not yet learned.

The initial sounds worksheets are ordered as per the alphabet but intended to be taught in the following order OR in the order of the alphabet. Provision is made for the latter and this is made clear in the pack where differences occur.

What does the pack contain?

These are no-prep, print-and-use worksheets.

Advice for best use is provided for teachers, including advice on using them as an assessment tool.

The pack contains at least two worksheets for every letter of the alphabet (often more), the first designed for pupils who are learning to write as they learn the initial sounds and another for pupils who can already form the letters but need practice in hearing the initial sounds. As the sounds are learned the activities encourage sound discrimination.
