This Hickety Pickety Bumble Bee song is a traditional name chant for preschool and early elementary circle time. Everyone chants "Hickety pickety bumblebee, won't you say your name for me?" and one child answers with their name. The class then repeats that name three ways: say it, clap it (one clap for each part) and whisper it. Then the bee moves on to the next child.
A second page walks you through running the circle in six steps, with ways for every child to join. A child can say their name, point to their card, ask you to say it, or hold up the "I'll listen" card. The beat stops for each name, so long and short names never have to fit a rhythm. Extensions include counting the claps in a name, a silent round, voice play and a name card match game.
