These informative writing worksheets walk students from a topic idea to a revised piece with an opening, three body paragraphs and a closing. Students begin by choosing a topic, naming three ideas that explain it and noting one fact for each. A source page asks them to write three facts in their own words, record where each fact came from and link it to one of their ideas.
Next, students plan an opening and a closing, choose linking words such as also, for example and because, and turn each idea into a short body paragraph. Two lined pages hold the full draft. A revision page adds a five-point checklist, a space to record a reader's response, one rewritten sentence and a final edit for capitals, punctuation and spelling. A short model essay about a classroom paper station shows the finished structure and a before-and-after revision, and the teacher guide includes a six-criterion rubric.
