Informative Writing Worksheet Set

This is an Informative Writing Worksheet Set.

A printable and digital version are included. The digital version will allow students to edit it on their devices. It also provides the teacher with the ability to display it in Google Slides and type into it. Being able to properly model how to complete these pages will help support students when they complete them independently.

This resource was designed for 2nd – 4th grade students.

There are graphic organizers and a rough draft template for planning a five paragraph paper.

Prior to utilizing this resource, students will have already engaged in a complete informative writing unit. This will allow students to complete this packet independently or in small groups.

These worksheets are very versatile in the sense that you can use them for any informational topic. They make a great companion to a research project. Whether it is an animal research report, a biography, or another science or history topic, students can utilize these with just about anything!

This packet begins with a 3 page graphic organizer for planning. Students will:

-Introduce the topic with a thorough topic sentence on the first page. They will write 3 supporting details. At the end, they will restate the main idea to close their introduction.

-Share facts, definitions, and/or details to tell more about paragraph #2 and paragraph #3 on the second page.

-Share facts, definitions, and/or details to tell more about paragraph #4 on the third page. They will also write their closing paragraph by restating the conclusion and summing up their main ideas.

A shorter, one page version is included to cover all 5 paragraphs at once.

Finally, there are 5 different pages included for students to write their rough drafts.
