Lesson 2: Explan-a-Story Writing – A Surprising Method for Connecting to Reader’s Emotions - An Alien Wrote my Expository Essay with Mr. Butt and Bonefish

Explan-a-story Writing teaches how the answer to a why question can connect a student’s experiences to the reader’s emotions through mini-stories called Action-Dotes. This lesson also includes a bonus lesson “Movies of the Mind” from “A Zombie Wrote my Narrative Essay” that works with expository essays as well. Each lesson contains a story that illustrates the concept being taught. This is followed by an assessment to evaluate a student’s understanding of the concept and a lesson review.
