This resource is a My Mini Autobiography | Printable & Digital Activity.

This is a fun beginning of the year project that serves several purposes at once:

• It allows you to get to know your students quickly.

• It gives you a quick glimpse of each child’s writing skills.

• It allows them to write and share about themselves to their peers in a way that might not happen in natural conversation, therefore building community quickly.

How to Use:

• Have students title their “Mini Autobiography” and write their name on the by line.

• If being used at the beginning of the year, I suggest telling students to just write without thinking too much about spelling and grammar. Let them just be free to write about themselves.

• The square at the bottom is for a “selfie.” 😊

• I like to bind all the Mini Autobiographies into a class book to keep for the year and share from.

Digital access is included for you to assign it to Google Classroom for students to complete.

Learning objectives

Students will write a short personal autobiography introducing themselves in their own words.
Students will pair their written autobiography with a self-portrait or photo in the designated square.

Teaching tips

Tell students to write freely without focusing on spelling or grammar if using this at the start of the year, per the file's own suggestion.
Bind the completed printables into a class book to keep and share throughout the year, as the file itself suggests.
Have students make their own copy of the Google Slides version before editing, and set Google Classroom to "Make a copy for each student" so each student edits their own slide.
