Notable Canadians: Beyond Terry Fox (but he's here too, of course!)

Here is a diverse list of 26 Canadian Changemakers for your students to research and present to each other.

The list includes athletes, artists, writers, politicians. scientists, and entrepreneurs. I tried to make it as diverse as possible with Indigenous Peoples, Black Canadians, Asian-Canadians, LGBTQ members, and both current and historical figures.

How to Use:

This list could be a great supplement to a biography unit. It would work well in the beginning of the year when talking about Terry Fox. Allow your students to each choose one Canadian from the list to complete a research project about. They could present their findings in many ways: a written biography with paragraphs about early life, careers, and accomplishments; a PowerPoint Presentation; a pamphlet or poster; a podcast; a video; or more!
