Product description
From the author
We have so many new skills to teach our young learners, so ensuring that we can keep them engaged very early on is so important. Two ways to do this is by incorporating topics they are interested in and by providing them with hands-on activities.
What You Get:
This is a Sight Word Crossword Puzzle. It is great for your kindergarten and 1st grade students. You can use this to introduce these sight words or to review them if students have already mastered them.
How To Implement This Resource:
It is an 8-page printable. You may choose to print copies of each page for every student to complete. It may also be good to print a few copies and laminate them for repeated use. If you choose to laminate them, students can use dry erase markers to complete the pages. This works well as a small group or reading center activity.
The first 6 pages will be filled with puzzles for students to complete. The last 2 pages are filled with words for students to trace. These are the words they will use to complete the puzzles.
This makes a great homework activity or early finisher activity. Students can complete the puzzle together or independently.
I hope you enjoy!

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Students write missing letters into a crossword grid to complete short words, using partially given letters as clues.
Teaching tips
Provide the word-bank pages alongside the puzzle grids so students have a reference list of the target words while filling in the missing letters.
Use the six puzzles as a rotating independent practice station, since each presents a different word grid.
Trace and read the word-bank words before choosing a puzzle; model unfamiliar spellings before independent practice.
