About This Product

This resource was developed to meet the requirements of the 8th Grade Expressions & Equations Standards below:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.EE.C.8
Analyze and solve pairs of simultaneous linear equations.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.8.EE.C.8.B
Solve systems of two linear equations in two variables algebraically, and estimate solutions by graphing the equations. Solve simple cases by inspection. For example, 3x + 2y = 5 and 3x + 2y = 6 have no solution because 3x + 2y cannot simultaneously be 5 and 6.

It contains the following resources:

1) Systems of Equations: Elimination PARTNER PRACTICE

· Each partner will solve 8 systems of equations by substitution (ax+by=c paired with ax+by=c)

· Partners have different systems to solve but should find the same answers*

2) Answer Keys to All Parts

*Matching answers are a great way to have a built-in answer key process! This saves YOU time, but primarily, it should lead to ERROR ANALYSIS when students find answers that do not match.

Optional Use: If your students need more than just 8 practice problems, print the pages front & back and have each student do all 16. The built-in answer key process will still work, but may not have as much impact as checking with a partner for a different perspective.
