The History of Pirates

The History of Pirates is a great resource to learn about the history of piracy from the days of the ancient Egyptians through the Golden Age of Piracy in the Caribbean to the modern pirates of Somalia.

I've used this short unit as an addition to my class when studying the Age of Exploration. Includes the following topics:

1 : Ancient Piracy in the Mediterranean & Asia

2 : The Golden Age of Piracy in the Caribbean and Pirate Codes.

3 : The Lives of Famous Pirates

4 : Modern Piracy

Each lesson contains information, images, follow-up questions, and maps.

This resource also includes a Project where students are guided to create a poster showing and describing what life was like for pirates in the Caribbean during the early 1700s. Specific guidelines are provided
