About This Product

The War That Saved My Life | STEAM Activities & Project-Based Learning

Printable & Digital | Grades 5–7 | Teacher Guides Included

I created these activities while teaching The War That Saved My Life with my 6th graders. They were curious about what life was like during World War II, so I wanted projects that connected the story to real history in meaningful ways.

This resource includes five hands-on projects where students take on roles like engineer, artist, and problem-solver. They’ll try building a small model bomb shelter, design a propaganda poster, explore secret codes, work through math challenges based on evacuation trains, and investigate rationing and nutrition during the war.

Each project includes teacher notes, student handouts, and most come with a short background presentation to help introduce the topic. Both printable and digital versions are included, so it works well in any classroom setting. These activities have been a great way to extend learning and keep students engaged beyond the book.
