Two Practice Sheets - Converting Repeating Decimals to Fractions
About This Product
This file contains 2 nine problem worksheets for students to practice converting repeating decimals to fractions. There are decimals with one, two, and three numbers that repeat including decimals which have no, one, or two numerals that do not repeat before the repeating numerals. All decimals are less than 1. These sheets are for 8th grade math students to master the standard: Understand informally that every number has a decimal expansion; for rational numbers show that the decimal expansion repeats eventually, and convert a decimal expansion which repeats eventually into a rational number. The answer key for both sheets is included. Understanding how to convert repeating decimals to fractions helps students grasp the connection between different representations of numbers—decimals and fractions. It reinforces the idea that both are just different ways of expressing the same quantities and strengthens students' understanding of the number system. Students are also able to practice writing and solving equations.
