U.S. President Andrew Johnson Research Project

U.S. President Andrew Johnson Research Project Students will conduct research on President Andrew Johnson and create an informative research report. This project allows students to compile information and drafts in a flip book. Once research is complete, they will publish a final report using the included publishing paper. Revision checklists for self, peer, and teacher review hold students accountable for editing their work before final submission. A grading rubric is provided to evaluate students' final published reports. Additional teacher feedback pages are included to provide individualized comments. This cross-curricular project develops research, writing, speaking, listening, and visual presentation skills. It can be used for individual, small group, or whole class assignments in third through fifth grade social studies or ELA courses studying U.S. presidents or biographies. Students will gain experience locating valid sources, organizing findings, articulating ideas, designing visuals, and citing evidence.
