Learning objectives
Identify the CH, SH, TH, or WH digraph within a printed word.
Complete a word by filling in the correct digraph in either the beginning or ending position.
Compose an original sentence using a given digraph word correctly.
Teaching tips
Work through the circle-the-digraph and missing-digraph pages first, since they isolate digraph recognition before the later pages embed the same words in full sentences.
Use the six supplementary picture images alongside the match-word-to-picture page so students have a visual anchor for words like 'whale' and 'wheel.'
Save the write-a-sentence page for a follow-up day, since it asks students to independently compose sentences for all eleven digraph words rather than complete a guided task.
Skills covered
Digraph identification — students circle or underline the CH/SH/TH/WH digraph within printed words and full sentences.
Digraph spelling — students fill in the missing digraph to complete a word in both beginning and ending positions.
Sentence composition — students write an original sentence for each of eleven digraph vocabulary words.
