About this resource
In this social-emotional learning and school counseling product, you will get 5 Christmas-themed coping Skills Colouring Sheets. These are SEL colouring pages. This is a great resource to use with one-on-one counseling, small group counseling, social skills groups, and even whole class lessons. In this product, you will receive a snowman, Rudolph, Santa, Christmas tree, and a gingerbread man. You will also get a take-home handout with 16 coping skills listed for students to share with their parents and keep in their room or kitchen for reference. The 16 strategies listed are read, draw, squeeze a stress ball, take a walk, go on a nature walk, play with a pet or stuffy, take a slow breath, watch a funny t.v. show, bake something, play a game, play a sport, listen to music, talk to someone, be with a friend, ask for a hug, and think of a calm and peaceful place.
This resource is great for pre-k (guided by an adult), kindergarten (guided by an adult), first grade, second grade, and probably even third grade. These are great for having conversations with students about what coping strategies have they tried, what strategies would they be willing to try, and which strategies might not work well for them.

In this product, students take turns clicking on a square to see what the coping skill is. Classes can have students take turns clicking the square and trying to guess the coping skill.

Teaching tips & learning objectives
Learning objectives
Match a lettered code to its corresponding coping strategy and colour using each page's legend
Recognize and name a range of coping strategies, from physical (take a walk, squeeze a stress ball) to social (ask for a hug, talk to someone) and reflective (think of a calm and peaceful place)
Follow multi-step visual instructions to complete a colour-coded picture accurately
Teaching tips
Introduce each page's strategy-and-colour legend before students begin, since accurate colouring depends on correctly matching each letter code to its strategy
Use the sixteen-strategy reference page as a whole-group discussion starter, asking students which strategies they've tried or would want to try
Spread the five pictures across separate sessions rather than assigning all five at once, since each uses a different four-strategy subset of the reference page
Follow up the colouring with a short conversation about which strategies work best for a particular student, since the colouring task itself does not require verbal reflection
Skills covered
Colour-code following — students match a lettered legend to the correct colour and location on five different holiday-shaped pictures.
Coping-strategy recognition — students learn to name and distinguish physical, social, and reflective coping strategies through repeated exposure across five pages.
Fine-motor colouring practice — students colour small legend-coded regions within detailed holiday shapes.

Questions teachers ask about this resource
Are the same coping strategies repeated on every picture?
No — each of the five pictures pairs a different set of four strategies with its own colour legend, so working through all five introduces a wider range of strategies than any single page would.
How does the sixteen-strategy reference page relate to the five colouring pages?
It's a separate summary chart — the sixteen strategies shown there are drawn from the same pool used across the five colour-by-code pictures, but each individual picture's legend only uses four of them.
