About this resource

Compare the vowel-team spellings ee and ea in a fourteen-word sort. Students read each word and place it in the matching column, then check the completed classification page. Highlighting the letter team before sorting can help students notice the spelling pattern within the whole word.

Curriculum reference — Ontario: Recognising alternative spellings for the long-e sound supports orthographic/phonics work; this is not a claim to all vowel-team patterns. Selected skills only; reference stage is not an overall reading age, complete curriculum coverage, or an automatic recommendation for every learner.
