Swiss Cross Birthday Chart

This is a set of printables used to create a birthday display in your classroom. There are several fonts and varieties of ways to do the displays. DIRECTIONS Print these off and laminate them to create a birthday chart for your students. There are headers available, and blank landscape posters for each month (which you and type on or print out and write on). There is also a pennant style where’re you can type the student’s names on there or write them or clip clothespins with their name on them on the correct month. In my classroom, I print the pennant blank and laminate them, then write their names in their birthday months with expo marker (note that if you do this, it is important to put your display where there will not be a lot of traffic as you do not want anyone's birthday accidentally erased). I have also printed the pennant banners and clipped close pins with their names on them on each month. It is recommended that you print these on card stock and laminate them if you want to use them for more than one year. Included is a powerpoint of all the various editable banners and posters. This FR fun, Find and Color worksheet for initial blends is excellent for acquainting children orally with initial consonant blends and helping them develop the necessary phonemic awareness in preparation for more advanced blending work, involving four phonemes. What is included in the pack? One PDF sheet for the FR blend. This is a sample of our pack of 20 activities covering common initial blends which can be found here in one PDF file: less clutter on your computer! What do the worksheets involve? Pupils are instructed to combine the two letters on the worksheet and then look for objects that start with that consonant blend. Then, these items ought to be coloured, leaving the others uncoloured. Children can easily work on the sheet unaided once they have been instructed, although, with those children with special needs, it is strongly suggested that an adult works with the child for maximum benefit. How to use The introduction of the concept of initial blends needs to be done thoroughly. When I work with children, especially those with a special need, I first like to teach children to blend two consonant letters. Then I work on developing the children's phonemic awareness: that being the ability to hear two consonant letters blended at the beginning of a word, easily. This is difficult for some pupils and takes a lot of practice. These worksheets can assist by first encouraging students to blend the two consonant letters and then by helping them to hear the blend at the start of a word. As often as you can, practice blending the letters in each initial blend and encourage the students to follow suit. I find that modelling is key at this stage. Who are the initial blends Find and colour worksheets for? Young learners Those with a special need Due to their non-babyish nature , they can be successfully used with older ESL/EFL pupils. Answer keys: The answer key is included on the sheet, in small print.

If you want to give students extra practice with place value, I have just the resource for you. What You Get: This is a Partitioning Place Value Worksheet that was designed for 2nd grade students who are working on or have mastered place value. It also works well as a review for students. It is a 2-page printable. The first page consists of 2-digit numbers. The second page consists of 3-digit numbers. This provides an increase in complexity and differentiation for students. How To Implement This Resource: You can print off enough copies of this worksheet for each student to have. You may also choose to print only a few copies and laminate those. If you choose to laminate them, students can use dry erase markers to write answers. This is a great way to turn this into a math center or small group activity. Students will partition each number using the table provided then complete the sum. The first one is done for them on each page. They will get to practice partitioning tens and units and then they will practice partitioning hundreds, tens, and units. This is great for an independent assignment or homework. It also works well as a math quiz or assessment that could be scored for a grade.
