Skip Counting by 2's
Math, Early Math, Preschool, Grade 1, Worksheets & Printables, Worksheets

Skip Counting by 2's The 'Skip Counting by 2’s' worksheets are easy-to-use teaching resources ideal for educators of Kindergarten and first grade students. This helpful resource was developed to enhance young learners' understanding of the essential skill of skip counting, specifically focusing on counting by 2's, which is pivotal in early math development. Each worksheet features an inviting, uncomplicated design with number spaces that guide students as they count from 2 to 20. These worksheets come with three different layout variations tailored to various learning styles and levels of proficiency: One version provides all numbers from 2-20 already written out for trace practice. The second version meets learners halfway, providing only a few numbers as checkpoints so the pupil can fill in the rest while practicing skip counting. The last activity sheet challenges budding Mathematicians further because it only shows the number '2', asking them to complete the form using their knowledge gained from counting practice. 'Skip Counting by 2’s' not only introduces youngsters to numerical sequences but also sows seeds for understanding multiplication further down their academic journey. Skip counting emphasizes that multiplication is simply repeated addition; for example - adding 'two' ten times equates multiplying ten by two! Additionally, these activities align perfectly with core standards: K.CC.A1 through K.CC.A3 concerning counting techniques and numeral representation up to twenty objects. '1.OA.C5’ and ‘1.NBT.A1’ relating to applying addition or subtraction as alternative methods in specific situations along with numeracy training less than one hundred twenty. These PDF worksheets could be implemented during whole class instruction time or small group sessions depending on student need & educator teaching style preference at any given time or space during your structured Math periods throughout your academic year. When ready for new aspects within skip-counting concepts , you’ll find more diverse ‘Counting by 5’s’ and ‘Counting by 10’s’ worksheets accessible in the math count series at Teach Simple. Progressive learning is unavoidable with this set of adaptable worksheets that will provide each student with the support they need to master skip counting by 2's. Implement 'Skip Counting by 2’s' in your mathematical teaching agenda to aid students in building a solid foundation for future numeric success.

ELA, Language Development, Pre-Reading, Phonics, Reading, Preschool, Grade 1, Activities

Wouldn't you love to get your students excited about reading? Through this engaging and interactive Powerpoint presentation, your class can easily learn and practice CVC words with the short a sound. This fun activity can help teach them multiple reading skills like blending, letter sounds, and matching the sounds we read to the picture we see- and with its colorful visuals and simple instructions, you can't go wrong! Simply put the Powerpoint into presentation mode and watch the car move from the first letter to the second letter to the third letter. As the teacher is clicking to go to the next slide, students should be making the letter sound that corresponds with the location of the race car. In the 4th slide of each word, an arrow appears showing students the word they read. Reading CVC words is an important strategy when introducing many phonological awareness skills emerging readers need to learn. CVC words follow the simple pattern of consonant-vowel-consonant and make it easier for students to transform individual letter sounds into short and simple familiar words. The short vowel sounds are the foundation of fluent reading. When students begin learning letter names and sounds the first vowel sounds we teach them are the short vowel sounds. The CVC short a words students will read in this activity are: can, jar, bat, cat, hat, rat, jam, and bat (like the baseball bat). RF.K.2d Isolate and pronounce the initial, medial vowel, and final sounds (phonemes) in three-phoneme words (CVC words). RF.K.3b Associate the long and short sounds with common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels. You can find corresponding activities for CVC short vowel e, i, o and u on Teach Simple at the following links: You can find corresponding activities for CVC short vowels a, e, o and u on Teach Simple at the following links: Short e race car Short i race car Short o race car Short u race car

Race to the Top Interactive Game

Race to the Top Interactive Game
Social Studies, ELA, Not Grade Specific, Activities, Games

This is a Race to the Top PowerPoint Activity. This allows you to turn any worksheet into a game ! This is for any subject and any grade level. The goal of this game for students is to be the first to reach the top of the mountain. To do this, students must advance their team up the mountain by working sections of problems correctly. Once each team finishes a section of questions, they can check in with the teacher. If everyone is correct, that team will roll to find out which rule to play by. If incorrect, they will need to find and fix their mistakes before they check in again. Directions to Teacher Before Game : On “Race to the Top” slide, edit the box in top left corner to show the problems you want students to complete. The vertical gray bars in the textbook group problems into sections. Edit textboxes next to each rule to suit your preferences (or use the default rules). Edit “ Game Rules” slide to suit your preferences. Show this to students before starting the game . To Run the Game : Put PowerPoint in presentation mode. After a team finishes a section correctly, have them roll a dice to see which rule they get. Then follow the directions for that rule (if the rule involves a dice roll, have them roll again). To make a rule show up, click on the Rule textbox. Click on it again to make the rule disappear. Sometimes it’s advantageous for the teacher to select which Rule teams play by for a given amount of time (5-10 minutes). To speed the game up, use Rules 6. To slow the game down, use Rule 5. To catch last place teams up, use Rules 2 or 3. To advance a team up the mountain, click on their dots (starting at the bottom and working your way up). If you make a mistake and click too many dots, simply click the dot again and it will revert to white. Essentially, clicking once adds color; clicking on the same dot again removes the color. Beware: once you exit presentation mode, all PowerPoint animations will be reset. I hope you enjoy! Each flow chart will have students start with the same question: How many pairs of opposite sides are parallel? (Slope Formula) Each chart will give the same options of 0 pairs, 1 pair, or 2 pairs. The first chart will stop flowing if students choose the option of 0 pairs or 1 pair. The second chart will continue to flow after the selection of 2 pairs. Students will be presented with another question: Are diagonals congruent? (Dist. Formula) They will answer an additional question from there and will then arrive at a final answer. Students can use this flow chart alongside them as they are learning or reviewing the characteristics of quadrilaterals. I hope you enjoy!
