Have your students just started learning about two-step word problems? Have they mastered the skill? Do you have students in your classroom who could use additional practice to sharpen their word problem skills? This is a Two Step Word Problems Activity Packet for your 3rd and 4th grade students. These pages include 28 word problems, all of which will require students to do two steps in order to find a solution. Problems involve addition, multiplication, subtraction, and division. o They are best used near the END OF THIRD GRADE, after students have practiced (and hopefully mastered) all addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division concepts in the common core. OR they can be used as review at the BEGINNING OF FOURTH GRADE! o There are many ways to use these pages! I use them as daily problems for students to solve during self-starters/morning work. They may also be used in centers, as early finisher pages, or as worksheets during math instruction. o If you’d like, you can have your students circle the ÷ + x – on each page to show which process(es) they used. o It is important that students be able to pick out two steps to each problem. NOTE: The two steps they choose may be different than those shown in the answer key! o There is no rhyme or reason to the order in which the problems are organized. o Some problems are more challenging than others.
